I just spent about 36 hours in Toronto - and I loved it.
A few months ago, Mike McDerment (CEO of Freshbooks and organizer of the mesh conference) invited me to speak at the meshU event about "Building and Scaling an Inside Sales Team." I was honored to stand in the ranks and share the stage with other great presenters and entrepreneurs at the conference.
I wasn't able to attend all of the sessions, but did attend (or portions of):
The sessions were awesome with smart audiences that asked tons of engaging and interesting questions. After the meshU conference we all got to mix at the uber cool Drake Hotel. [Side Note: I arrived at the hotel at 1am Sunday night and decided to get a drink at the Sky Yard to find a thumping bar full of people!]
While there I was able to meet up with some online friends that I've known via Twitter and blogs and finally put a face to the name (Mark MacLeod, the StartupCFO). I quickly fell in love with the Toronto startup community which was full of smart, engaging and HUMBLE entrepreneurs. This was unlike any Silicon Valley event that I've been to in the past. The Toronto crowd and meshU attendees were top notch smart and friendly with everyone. I walked away from the mesh events inspired that Toronto has a rising tech scene. (Remember, Google just acquired Bump Technologies )
So, thank you all for the support you gave me during my presentation and thanks for taking so much time to make me feel welcomed in Canada. I know that many of you wanted to chat some more and had very specific questions regarding my presentation - please feel free to reach out directly to me @isaacgarcia.com or via Twitter @isaacgarcia. Below is the presentation, in case you missed it - "The Agony & Ecstasy of Building & Scaling Inside Sales."
