CD Gives: Volunteering with KCSS
“An làmb a bheir, ‘s I a gheibh” – the hand that gives is the hand that gets.
Through CD Gives, we were recently able to spend the day volunteering with The Kern County Scottish Society. The KCSS is a non-profit organization known not only for their kilts and bagpipes, but their dedication to educating the public on Scottish culture and traditions.

Jared (Support), Ron Palmer (KCSS), Lauren (Recruiting)
We spent the day helping KCSS set up for the 17th Annual Scottish Games and Gathering, the society’s largest event of the year. The Games and Gathering is a festival for traditional Scottish music, food (yes, even haggis), athletics like the caber toss, and not-so-traditional Celtic rock music. It’s attended by more than 4,000 supporters each year, most of whom also attend the following event known as the Ceilidh (Gaelic for “celebration”).
KCSS also recently started using Central Desktop to ensure all financial information and contracts are stored safely in the cloud!
The 2012 Scottish Games and Gathering was a success, and while we won’t be trying haggis again, we look forward to next year’s event. Thank you Central Desktop for the opportunity to give back! – Jared and Lauren
